CAD Coaching
Why do I Coach?
CAD Coaching is specialised and focused on CAD processes and CAD methodologies.
CREO (formerly Pro-Engineer) is my tool of choice, starting way back in 1996, but I am equally versed in SolidWorks.
In essence, I love CAD. I love spinning models and watching the design grow and evolve on the screen.
CAD is what made me choose Industrial Design. I actually started out doing Civil Engineering until i found I had little interest in roads, dams, bridges or dirt. But I loved CAD and also product design so jumped over and haven't looked back.
Top-Down-Design (TDD) is the CAD modelling methodology that I champion. It provides CAD design architecture and model tree structure that is robust yet flexible. This methodology has proven itself many time with large changes in product geometry in the late stages prior to file release.
TDD ensured that we could flex complex assemblies with large part counts and complex interfaces and interactions with minimal part failure. My best result before regeneration of an entire assembly in 2 1/2 hours, but with the confidence that the integrity of part interactions and interfaces was maintained.
CAD Coaching allows me to pass on these time tested learnings onto my clients to maximise the power of their chosen CAD tool.
How do I coach?
This can be conducted in several ways:
-
bespoke, customised 1 on 1 or small group training
-
Working in your CAD package on your projects. Nothing beats training tailored to what you need to do every day as part of your role.
-
-
a quick phone call when the designer is at an impasse to get you on your way
-
short design review meetings at regular touch points along the projects development.
-
planning, conducting and leading brainstorming sessions.
This can be onsite or remote or a mix of the two.
Flexibility is the key to assist your team and design environment.
